Easy breezy

It's still unbearably hot in montreal but it's gotten so much better! yay! There is an actual breeze in the morning and evenings and even during the day if your lucky. So I can finally start wearing real clothes, instead of teeny tiny shorts and sheer loose tank tops. If you too have decided to shelve the barely there outfits for a bit, it's important to wear breathable fabrics. Breathable fabrics are those which absorb the moisture from the skin to the surface of the fabric so that the moisture can then be easily evaporated. The best and easily accessible breathable fabrics are cotton, linen and rayon (despite being a man made fibre). When choosing these materials stay away from blends. Rayon is commonly blended with polyester, nylon or acrylic. The common fabrics to avoid are polyester, nylon, silk.
Remember to keep your clothes loose because tight fitting clothes are not breathable no matter what the fabric is. Also, iron your clothes because the disadvantage of these wonderfully breathable fabrics is that they wrinkle very easily.

DIY cut off denim shorts

One of my favorite summer pieces is a good pair of completely destroyed cut off shorts. I can never find the right "ripped to shreds" level in the stores so I made my own. It took a long time (an entire season of sex and the city) but I'm quite pleased with the results.

DIY friendship bracelet

It's 26 degrees and gorgeous outside but I am locked up inside plagued with disease. yay *sarcasm*. Since  I'm not the kind of person who can sit still in bed and do nothing for the whole day I've been spending the last couple days working on a lot of DIY projects I've been meaning to do forever. Here's one that you can do in bed all day.

Start with 8 strands of embroidery floss that are about 80cm long. It's better to have more than less. Fold the strings in half and tie a knot to make a little loop.

Frolicking in the sun

I'm back! I spent the last week frolicking around enjoying the lovely sunny weather. I went camping with my boyfriend, was in cambridge for a few days, and now I'm back here. Here are some pictures of my last week of adventures.
Ps, you should see my wicked sun burn. Remember that episode of friends when Ross only gets spray tanned on one side? It's like that, only it hurts and I'll probably get skin cancer because it wasn't a spray tan. Wear your sunscreen people!

Watermelon Salad

Montreal has officially turned into a sauna.
Escape the heat even if it's just for a couple bites with this refreshing and super easy watermelon feta salad.
